Juan Travnik

(Buenos Aires, 1950)

Director of the FotoGalería at Teatro San Martín and of the photography space at Teatro de la Ribera, both in Buenos Aires. Teaches widely, is an essayist and an independent curator. Has exhibited individually in an array of countries including Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, France, Spain, the United States, Slovenia, Venezuela, Brazil, Belgium and Colombia, while also participating in a large number of collective exhibitions. His work is a part of public and private collections in various countries.

Juan Travnik received different prizes and distinctions, amongst which, in 2006, the J. S. Guggenheim Foundation scholarship and the Prize for his professional career by the Argentinean Association of Arts Critics (Asociación Argentina de Críticos de Arte).

His work has been published in the following volumes:  Malvinas. Retratos y paisajes de guerra. Fotografías de Juan Travnik (Malvinas. Portraits and War Landscapes – Lariviére, Argentina, 2008); Los restos. Colección fotógrafos argentinos (The Remainders.
