Javier Olivares Conde

(Madrid, 1964)

Draftsman and illustrator since 1984. Has published his work in countless magazines and newspapers, such as El País, El Mundo or Público, and has illustrated childrens’ books for the main Spanish publishers (SM, Anaya, Santillana, Everest, Montserrat Abbey, Media Vaca…). Some of his books are Los niños tontos (Daft Kids), with text by Ana María Matute (Media Vaca, Valencia, 2000); La Cenicienta rebelde (a new version of Cinderella and the Red Air Balloon), with text by Ann Jungman (SM, Madrid, 1993); Les Sospites de la Mònica (Monica’s suspicions), with text by Paulina Fariza (Cruïlla, Barcelona, 1999); Lo que hace el abuelo, bien hecho está (Whatever Granddad does is fine), a popular tale adapted by Gonçal Luna (La Galera, Barcelona 1999); La Princesa i el talp (The Princess and the talp), popular tale adapted by Ramon Girona (PAM, Barcelona, 2002, published in German by P&P, 2009); Luna pregunta (Luna asks) and Luna responde (Luna replies), both with his own text (Anaya, Madrid, 2007); and La hormiga viajera (Travelling Ant), with text by Alfonso Palacio (Diálogo, Valencia, 2008).
